Support of SCTV (Spot color tone value)GMG OpenColor offers new functionality for color corrections and gradations. For the calculation of spot color tone values you are now able to choose SCTV as a calculation method. |
So far GMG OpenColor uses the Murray-Davies formula (density-based calculation). The calculation of the spot color tone value varies depending on the manufacturer-specific density filter. Therefore the SCTV standard (ISO 20654:2017) was initiated. You want to learn more? Additional options to edit separation rulesThe feature set of separation rules has been greatly extended to meet your individual needs of color separation. Change the number of output inks You are now able to easily change the number of output inks just as you need – even before you hit the calculate button. The maximum number of output inks can now be set to four, but you are also able to limit the number on two inks to increase your process stability while printing. Manual change Manually edit the output ink percentages. Update after modifications In case of any changes on a project used as input color space for your separation rules, you are now able to update all modifications to them with just one click. It doesn’t matter if you delete or deactivate a color, adjust the Lab target values or add a color to your project. By clicking the Reload from input project button all changes will be updated. |

Visualization of the measurement data correctionTo enhance the usefulness of the automatic spectral correction of measurement data introduced in an earlier version of GMG OpenColor, the application now offers you the possibility to display the results of the correction in the layout of the test chart. This feature simplifies the evaluation of incorrect color values. |

Improved use of overprinting information when changing the ink sequence in the characterizationWhen the ink sequence is changed in the project, all overprint information that is still valid for the new print order will be used for profile calculation. Using all available data will result in an even better color match. This improved behavior is applied automatically when a new profile is created. Already existing profiles will not be changed and not be marked as invalid when updating the application. New behavior: |
In this example, the order of the two Pantone colors have swapped. As you can see in the overprint overview on the right side, the overprint information is partly reduced (fewer checkmarks indicating overprints), but not completely removed. Only overprint information of inks directly affected by the change will not be used. Old behavior: In previous versions, all overprint information was ignored, even if the information was not affected by the change. |

Edit spot color librariesDelete spot color from spot color library It is now possible to delete single spot colors from a spot color library. GMG OpenColor's fail-safe and efficient change management takes care of dependencies. Export spot color libraries For proofing multicolor prints without overprinting spots, it is now possible to export spot color libraries (in db3 file format) and import them into GMG ColorProof. This allows you to use a combination of MX4 profiles and GMG OpenColor spot color sets in GMG ColorProof. This functionality eases the replacement of GMG SpotColor Editor by GMG OpenColor. Remove gradation It is now possible to remove a gradation again after it was assigned to a spot color. |

Expanded Color Gamut (ECG) Profiles for PACKZRGB-to-ECG separation profiles can be requested by the Hybrid Software PACKZ. |

The following technical issues have been resolved in GMG OpenColor 2.2.1.470. Please note that the list describes the problem, not the solution. UI freeze after downsizing the application window When resizing the OpenColor window when a project was open, the UI often froze and needed the application required a shut down. [00716] UI freeze after importing invalid project OpenColor froze and needed to be closed by the task manager after importing a project with an exceeded limit of static project inks ('use active inks a project inks'). [03911] Reference print could not be simulated with OpenColor spot colors Triggered by a reported issue the out of gamut color mapping has been improved. [04328, 74031] Chinese characters could not be selected in Keywords area in OpenColor The input method (for Asian characters) did not stay open when typing in the ‘keywords’ text box. [04532] Unclear error message when loaded the wrong measurement template Measuring in M1 mode with the X-Rite i1iO device does not work when the template with small patch size is loaded. The error message did not contain a precise error description: 'Error starting measurement session. Please check your measuring device.' This happened when the wrong template was loaded manually instead of using the OpenColor measurement test chart presets. [04812] Channel sequence of YMCK test chart not maintained with measurement A newly created test chart with the channel sequence YMCK showed after measuring the correct channel sequence in the characterization, however the patches were wrongly allocated (CMYK instead of YMCK). [04839] Custom spot color database with more than 15 spots could not be saved It was not possible to save a custom spot color database as characterization when it contained more than 15 spot colors ('Maximum number of 15 inks exceeded'). [04872] Paper tint was not adjusted after change in the characterizations order Changes to the sequence of the characterization databases (e.g CMYK + PANTONE -->PANTONE + CMYK) were not reflected in the ‘color corrections’ window in the values of the media white point. [04978] Paper tint adjustments not reflected in the ‘color corrections’ window Changes of the media white point, done in the characterization, were not reflected in the ‘color corrections’ window of the projects based on that characterization. [US-20137] Inks disappear from project It came to an error when two characterizations with partially identical ink names were loaded in the same project (e.g. CMYK and BCMY). The channels with identical ink names (e.g. CMY) were deactivated in the second characterization. Still this led to the unwanted effect that at a certain point CMY disappeared from the new project. [23231] ChannelChanger profile calculation not possible when TAC too high An error happened in ColorPlugin (‘ChannelChanger profile not available. Communication with OpenColor failed: bad opencolor server response’) when the TAC value in the ink settings for the separation profile in OpenColor was not appropriate. [71439] |
